GREAT EAST SWIM
22 JUNE 2013

With around 3,000 participants the Great East Swim is South East England’s biggest open water swimming event. Held in the beautiful clean waters of Alton Water reservoir, near Ipswich, swimmers can choose from 1/2 mile, 1 mile, 2 mile and 5k swims, participants set off in waves of approximately 300 every half an hour.

Your safety in the open water is our number one priority. All of our events have expert kayakers overseeing your progress with safety boats ready in the waiting for the unlikely event of an emergency. The course starts and finishes on dry land with a run or walk into the water.

This peaceful part of the world is enjoyed year round by walkers, cyclists and wildlife spotters. Make a weekend of it and discover award winning beaches, enchanted towns and the unspoilt countryside of Suffolk.
